Are All-on-4/All-on-6 Dental Implants Permanent?
This is an extremely common question we are asked. Not many patients are familiar with dental implants, so it can be confusing with the many different options we offer. We'll get into that further down in this post. All-on-4/All-on-6/All-on-X (there are a myriad of names!), and dental implants in general, are permanent! Dental implants themselves are a fixed, permanent solution that can replace your teeth. The dental implants mimic the tooth root and are embedded into the jaw.
Dental implants are small, titanium devices that are surgically implanted into the jaw to serve as an artificial root. They have an extremely high success rate, and with proper care, the implant screw itself can last a lifetime! Once the dental implants are fused with the jaw, in a process known as osseointegration, the dental implants can be used as a framework for the All-on-X teeth. These are high-quality artificial teeth that look incredibly natural.

They are so natural, in fact, that All-on-4/All-on-6 hybrids require regular maintenance appointments, and they can only be taken out at these appointments, you will not be able to remove them yourself, even if you want to!
Snap-In Dentures vs. All-on-X Permanent Implant Dentures
We also offer removable overdentures, called snap-in dentures, that utilize dental implants as well. These however can be removed yourself like traditional dentures, but the dental implants the denture "snaps" into provides more stability. We recommend All-on-X hybrid dentures because they are permanent and are most life-like, but snap-in dentures are the next best thing.
