Adult Clear BracesMany teenagers and adults who need orthodontic treatment to fix common bite and alignment issues are often reluctant to get braces for a number of reasons, from social and professional concerns, to practical issues like dietary restrictions and adjustments. Invisalign clear aligner trays offer a discreet and effective alternative to braces. The dentists at 1st Choice Dental offer a range of general and cosmetic dentistry services in Woodstock and Kennesaw, GA.

Invisalign in Woodstock and Kennesaw, GA

In addition to the fact that they are inconspicuous and virtually undetectable when you smile, Invisalign offers a number of additional benefits for your oral health and quality of life.

How Invisalign Works

The Invisalign system consists of a series of custom designed, disposable aligner trays that gradually shift your teeth into alignment. The trays are worn for approximately two weeks, and can be removed for up to two hours every day which allows you to maintain a normal oral hygiene routine and eat without restrictions. In some cases, the duration of the treatment period may be shorter with Invisalign than with braces, depending on your specific alignment needs.

What Dental Issues Can Invisalign Correct?

Some of the bite and alignment issues that can be corrected with Invisalign include:

  • Overbite
  • Open bite
  • Underbite
  • Gaps and spacing
  • Crowding

In addition to the cosmetic problems caused by common bite problems, they can also put you at greater risk for oral health problems like tooth decay and gum disease. Crowded or overlapping teeth can make it difficult to brush properly and lead to plaque and tartar buildup. Invisalign offers the best of both worlds by addressing your orthodontic needs without sacrificing your smile in the process with metallic braces.

What's your best orthodontic choice? It may be Invisalign clear aligners. Helping older teens and adults achieve healthy straight smiles forinvisalign more than 20 years, these clear, thin, discreet appliances fit snugly over the top and bottom teeth. They treat a wide variety of orthodontic issues. Could Invisalign from 1st Choice Dental Care in Kennesaw & Woodstock, GA work for you?

Smooth and invisible

Unlike metal or ceramic braces, Invisalign clear aligners are customized from biocompatible acrylic. They don't abrade oral tissues, impose complex oral hygiene routines or limit what you can eat. Fully removable for meals, brushing, and flossing and special occasions, Invisalign invisible braces move teeth into attractive and healthy positions in an average of one year. That's half the time conventional braces take.

What Invisalign helps

The list is long. While conventional orthodontics must address very complex problems, Invisalign straightens many mild to moderate problems. Appropriate for older teens and adults, the aligners come in pairs--18 to 30 in all. The patient changes them every 2 weeks or so according to the individualized treatment plan devised by your dentist at 1st Choice Dental Care.

Specifically, Invisalign aligners treat:

  • Gaps
  • Overcrowding
  • Overjet
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Crossbite
  • Tooth rotation
  • Tooth tipping

Your consultation and treatment in Kennesaw, Woodstock, and Marietta

Your dentist performs a complete oral exam, digital X-rays, and a special three-dimensional scan. Then, the dentist sends instructions to the Invisalign lab where a highly trained technician carefully crafts the aligner pairs. As you proceed through your plan, you'll visit 1st Choice Dental Care every four to six weeks for a progress check, and you'll receive your next pairs of aligners.

As you live with your Invisalign appliances, you'll see your teeth move into proper position. You'll find the aligners easy to maintain. Just wear them 20 to 22 hours daily as instructed and rinse with warm water to clean. If you're a teen, your aligners may have compliance indicators to keep treatment on track and space maintainers in case you're still waiting for molars or other teeth to erupt.

In the past, orthodontic care was not as effective or common as it is today. However, you may still second guess braces due to the obvious invisalignnature of their design. Having metal brackets and wires permanently attached to your teeth during treatment is a big commitment! Luckily, you can now straighten your smile discreetly with Invisalign. We offer Invisalign at our Kennesaw and Woodstock locations, so you'll be straightening without anyone noticing!

How does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment which uses aligner trays rather than metal wires and brackets. The trays, which the patient wears one after another until the end of their treatment series, are made of clear plastic, making them super-discreet and virtually invisible to others. The trays are all slightly different, placing pressure on the teeth at certain points and moving them slowly but steadily from their original positions to their new, straightened resting places. The trays may need some help pinpointing the areas on which the pressure is placed. In this case, tooth-colored bumps called attachments placed onto the teeth can help distribute the pressure placed on the teeth by the trays.

What does Invisalign treat?
Invisalign treats the standard orthodontic concerns, including:

  • misaligned teeth
  • uneven teeth
  • overcrowded teeth
  • under crowded teeth
  • overbite
  • underbite
  • crossbite
  • open bite

Invisalign Treatments at our Kennesaw & Woodstock Locations
Invisalign can help in many different situations and at various severities of orthodontic problems. However, dentists usually only recommend Invisalign for patients ages 12 and up as younger patients may have still-growing jaws which could compromise treatment. In some cases, a dentist may suggest orthodontic treatment for younger patients to guide their growing teeth and jaws, but this is not always the case. If you think you could benefit from Invisalign, contact us today!

Braces are no longer seen as a rite of passage for teenagers. Adults with gaps or crookedness are now investing in braces to improve invisalignthe look of their smiles and their dental health. One of the most amazing breakthroughs in orthodontic technology is Invisalign, a straightening treatment used frequently by your dentists at 1st Choice Dental Care in Woodstock and Kennesaw, Georgia. We believe in giving our patients accurate and comprehensive information about the dental treatments they offer. Here's more information about the advantages of choosing Invisalign to straighten your teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign

One of the main reasons people choose Invisalign is in its name: the aligners are practically invisible when you're wearing them. They are made from a lightweight, transparent plastic that is molded to the shape of your teeth. This makes them not only an inconspicuous way to have straight teeth; they're also much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. They also allow you much more freedom to eat what you enjoy, as the aligners are designed to be removed during meals. They're also much easier to maintain than traditional braces: since they're removable, a simple rinsing, soaking and brushing is enough to keep them clean. This also allows you to brush your teeth more thoroughly.

Points to consider about Invisalign

While Invisalign has many advantages, certain situations might lead you and your Woodstock and Kennesaw dentist down a different path for straightening your teeth. If you have severe crowding and tooth loss, for example, you may need to have more intensive treatments first and then utilize Invisalign to "fine-tune" the alignment. Because of the responsibility involved with wearing and cleaning the removable aligners, Invisalign works best for patients over the age of 18. The aligners are small and lightweight and can be easily misplaced, leading to extended treatment time or costly replacements. They also must be worn between 20 and 22 hours each day; for some younger patients, it may be tempting to remove them more frequently.

If you'd like to learn more about how Invisalign can help you, contacting 1st Choice Dental Care in Woodstock and Kennesaw, GA is a great place to start! We look forward to hearing from you!

The idea of braces probably brings to mind twisted pieces of wire anchored by large, clunky metal brackets. This common image is why invisalignso many of our patients at 1st Choice Dental Care in Kennesaw, Woodstock and Marietta, GA, are surprised when they learn about Invisalign, a completely different and revolutionary way to straighten teeth. Learn about how you can work with our dentists to achieve a beautiful new smile, both comfortably and attractively, through Invisalign's unique treatment plan.

What is Invisalign?

Although traditional braces still function as a way to move crooked teeth into the proper position, the dental industry wanted to improve upon the appearance, especially for their adult patients who didn't want the stigma associated with having a "metal mouth." In May of 2000, Invisalign premiered after several years of development and the process of wearing braces was revolutionized. Although they look like whitening trays, Invisalign's patented aligners work very much the same way as traditional braces: they place gentle pressure on the teeth to guide them into position. But not only does Invisalign offer the unique experience of wearing virtually "invisible" braces, the clear, plastic aligners that fit snugly against the teeth can be removed from the mouth for eating and cleaning. Braces-wearers are no longer restricted on their diet and they can comfortably brush and floss their teeth during their treatment period.

Is Invisalign right for me?

If you're interested in Invisalign to straighten your teeth, our Kennesaw, Woodstock and Marietta, GA dentists - Dr. Kelly Vaughn, Dr. Nalini Kataria, Dr. Emil Orza and Dr. David Wang - will thoroughly evaluate your teeth and determine if Invisalign can help. Certain types of misalignment may be better suited to a different treatment plan. We typically find that older teens and adults make the best candidates for Invisalign - because the aligners are removable, they can be misplaced easily. They also require a certain amount of commitment on the part of the patient. The best and quickest results are seen from patients who wear the aligners at least 20 to 22 hours each day.

You can learn more about Invisalign by contacting 1st Choice Dental Care, in Kennesaw, Woodstock and Marietta, GA, and requesting a consultation. With Invisalign, you can wear braces confidently, eat comfortably and finish the process with a beautiful new smile!
